A Kittl Alternative for a Simpler Shirt Workflow

Keep Kittl if you use its templates, vector tools, advanced typography, multiple artboards, team features, or configurable exports. It is the more capable design suite and a strong T-shirt tool in its own right.

Try MerchBanao if you want a narrower workflow: enter a prompt or upload an image, remove the background, add text and image layers, preview the design on a white or black shirt, and download a 4200 × 4800 transparent PNG. You give up Kittl's vector and template depth in exchange for fewer choices and a shorter path through the editor.

This is not a claim that one product is universally better. The decision comes down to whether you want a broad design system or a focused shirt-art workflow.

Kittl is no longer accurately described as a template library with AI bolted on. Its current T-shirt design page documents prompt-based generation, templates, vectorization, typography controls, garment mockups, marketplace presets, batch work, and configurable exports.

The official download guide shows controls for width, height, units, DPI, background, and PNG, JPEG, PDF, or SVG. Kittl also supports transparent export and CMYK options for some formats. Those are meaningful advantages when a print shop or product template needs something other than a fixed raster file.

Its design depth can also be more interface than a first-time seller needs. That is a usability tradeoff, not a missing feature.

The table compares the workflows available now. It avoids checkmark scoring because several features are not equivalent: a two-color shirt preview is not the same product as a large mockup library, and a fixed transparent PNG is not the same as configurable raster and vector export.

MerchBanao has one main job: help a creator turn an idea or reference image into artwork they can inspect on a shirt. The editor keeps generation, background removal, movable text and image layers, and a basic garment preview in the same session.

Its export is predictable rather than flexible: a transparent 4200 × 4800 PNG. That contains enough pixels for a 14 × 16 inch print area at 300 pixels per inch. It does not make the file universal. You still need to compare its aspect ratio and pixel dimensions with the exact template for the garment and provider.

This narrower approach can suit someone who does not need SVG, PDF, CMYK controls, reusable templates, or a team workspace. It is a poor replacement for Kittl if those are the features you use every week.

Kittl's current Free-plan documentation lists 200 one-time AI tokens, up to 100 generated images, five projects, and PNG or JPEG exports up to 800 pixels at 72 DPI. It labels the Free plan personal-use only and says AI generations are shared publicly. High-resolution export, vector export, premium content, and the broader commercial licence require a paid plan.

Paid Kittl plans receive monthly tokens; Expert and Max also receive daily tokens. Subscription tokens do not roll over, while separately purchased tokens do. The exact cost of a generation depends on the model and action, as explained in Kittl's token guide.

MerchBanao uses generation credits and offers credit packs rather than presenting its editor as a complete subscription design suite. A verified new account currently receives one starter generation credit. Check the live pricing page before buying either product; plan contents and regional prices can change.

Switching is not the only option. Generate or prepare an isolated artwork direction in MerchBanao, then import the PNG into Kittl when you need deeper typography, vector elements, multiple colorways, mockups, or a provider-specific export.

The reverse also works: build exact type or vector artwork in Kittl, export it, and use MerchBanao's simple shirt preview as another composition check. Keep the original editable file whichever way you work; a flattened PNG is harder to revise later.
