Redbubble vs TeePublic: Which Fits Your Art?

Redbubble and TeePublic are related artist marketplaces, but they operate as separate sites with separate stores and artist payments. The practical difference begins with how each platform classifies an account and how that classification affects fees, earnings, and search visibility.

TeePublic's own platform guidance says the websites continue to operate independently. Its payment guidance says artist payments remain separate.

Redbubble lets the artist choose a product markup. Its payment guide defines the artist margin as a percentage of the base price. As of the guide reviewed July 26, 2026, Redbubble deducts 50% of monthly earnings from Standard accounts, 20% from Premium, and 0% from Pro. Standard and Premium also pay a fee on earnings from markup above 20%.

TeePublic uses fixed regular-price and sale-price earnings rather than artist-set prices. Its category guide says Artisan accounts receive higher earnings than Apprentice accounts on most products, while Pending accounts use the Apprentice structure. Check TeePublic's live earnings chart instead of relying on an old fixed T-shirt figure.

TeePublic assigns a Pending status after the first upload. The shop can be visited by direct link, but Pending and Apprentice accounts are not eligible for TeePublic on-site search. Only Artisan accounts are eligible, according to TeePublic's current account-category documentation.

TeePublic's Pending-account guide recommends a profile image, banner, bio, social links, and at least ten designs to initiate review, though it says not all are required. Category decisions are made at TeePublic's discretion, and upgrade requests are not normally fulfilled. A direct-link shop is not the same as marketplace search eligibility.

Redbubble classifies artists as Standard, Premium, or Pro. Its tier guide says Standard is not a mandatory first step; a new artist can be classified as Premium when the account demonstrates the relevant qualities. Pro is an invited top-seller or ambassador category.

Redbubble's setup guide says a shop currently needs at least five public artworks with one enabled product each, plus completed shop, payment, and phone details. Classification and public visibility can take up to five business days. The accurate comparison is not “open and unlimited.” It is a different review and fee system.

Redbubble accepts JPEG and PNG and publishes different pixel requirements by product. Its current dimensions table recommends portrait, landscape, and square variants for products with different aspect ratios. Redbubble also lets an artist adjust or replace images on individual product groups.

TeePublic asks for a high-resolution transparent RGB PNG at 150 DPI, at least 1500 × 1995 pixels excluding outer transparency. Its product-dimensions guide says a file must be at least 5000 × 5500 to enable all products, while warning that several product types have no single standard.

MerchBanao currently exports 4200 × 4800. That can be an artwork source, but it does not meet TeePublic's stated 5000 × 5500 all-products threshold and is not a universal Redbubble file. Prepare and inspect each product-specific version.

Redbubble's content guidelines currently permit 30 new works per day across an artist's accounts. TeePublic's upload guide currently permits 25 designs per 24 hours for Pending and Apprentice accounts and 50 for Artisan accounts. Neither platform guarantees that indiscriminate upload volume creates discovery.
